How can we spark scientific curiosity in students from an early age? For several years now, the La Main à la Pâte foundation has been working to answer this question by promoting a method of science education based on observation, experimentation, and reflection.
Created by the French Academy of Sciences, La Main à la Pâte supports teachers in implementing scientific projects in the classroom. Far from being a traditional lecture-based approach, the goal is to engage students in a genuine investigative process: asking questions, making hypotheses, experimenting, observing results, and drawing conclusions.
At LIFT, this approach is at the heart of our science projects. Whether it’s studying local biodiversity, understanding marine ecosystems, or observing physical phenomena, our students learn through hands-on activities. This method of learning not only develops their knowledge but also builds essential cross-disciplinary skills such as accuracy, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication.
By encouraging hands-on work, experimentation, and discussion, La Main à la Pâte restores science’s dynamic and accessible nature — a wonderful way to help shape the curious and informed citizens of tomorrow.
