Elementary School in France

Elementary school in France welcomes children from ages 6 to 11 and represents the first stage of compulsory education. It includes five grade levels: cours préparatoire (CP), cours élémentaire 1 and 2 (CE1, CE2), and cours moyen 1 and 2 (CM1, CM2).

The main objective of elementary school is to provide students with a solid foundation in core subjects: French, mathematics, science, history-geography, civic education, English, the arts, and physical education. Developing skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic is a top priority, along with encouraging critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.

Teaching is based on adapted pedagogical methods that promote cooperation, independence, and individual progress. Continuous assessment supports each child’s development and helps identify specific needs.

At the Lycée Français International de Taipei, the elementary school follows the French National Education curriculum, enriched by a multicultural environment and global outlook. Our students benefit from a rigorous, stimulating, and nurturing education, helping them build a strong foundation for their academic and personal journeys.
