National Assessments

The national assessments, organised each year for pupils in primary and 6e classes, are standardised tests designed to measure pupils’ basic skills in various areas, mainly French and mathematics. These assessments provide objective data on pupils’ level of proficiency in reading, writing, arithmetic and basic mathematical concepts. They are carried out on a regular basis in all schools in France and in French establishments abroad.

The purpose of these assessments is manifold. Firstly, they give teachers a better understanding of the individual needs of each pupil. If certain skills appear to be less well mastered, teaching adjustments can be made to help the pupils concerned to progress.

At national level, the results provide indicators for guiding education policies and evaluating the effectiveness of school programmes.

At the Lycée Français de Taipei, the national assessments are also a valuable tool for adjusting our teaching practices to the specific needs of our students and for maintaining a level of academic excellence in line with the French curriculum. For parents, they provide an additional benchmark for monitoring their child’s progress. The ultimate aim of these assessments is to ensure that each pupil has the necessary skills to progress serenely through their school career.

At parent-teacher meetings, you will receive a report on the national assessments and the test booklets.
