Inspired by Matthew Lipman&#8217;s philosophy practices for children, these discussions provide a space where young pupils can explore universal concepts such as friendship, justice, freedom and happiness.<\/p>\n<p>Guided by a trained teacher, these discussions allow pupils to express themselves freely, develop their critical thinking skills and learn to construct a line of reasoning. The aim is not to provide ready-made answers, but to encourage children to ask questions, argue and listen to other people&#8217;s points of view. This approach fosters open-mindedness, analytical skills and tolerance.In a primary establishment class, a DVP can take a variety of forms: using a story, a picture or an everyday situation to launch a group discussion. For example, based on a story like The Little Prince, pupils can reflect on the meaning of friendship or the relationship between human beings and nature.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to cognitive learning, these workshops also have a positive impact on the establishment climate. Pupils learn to cooperate, to manage their emotions better and to interact respectfully &#8211; essential skills for their future lives as citizens.<\/p>\n<p>At the Lyc\u00e9e Fran\u00e7ais de Taipei, integrating DVP into teaching practices is part of our ambition to train enlightened and responsible students.
