Secondary in France is divided into two cycles: coll\u00e8ge (from 6th to 9th grade) and lyc\u00e9e (from 10th to 12th grade)<\/strong>. It is a key stage in students\u2019 academic journey, preparing them for higher education and professional life.<\/p>

Coll\u00e8ge (Ages 11 to 15)<\/h4>

Coll\u00e8ge marks the beginning of secondary education and consists of four levels: 6\u00e8me, 5\u00e8me, 4\u00e8me, and 3\u00e8me<\/strong>. It aims to consolidate the knowledge acquired in elementary school and deepen learning within a more structured framework.<\/p>

Subjects taught include:<\/p>

  • French, mathematics, history-geography, and civic education<\/li>
  • Science and technology (biology-geology, physics-chemistry, technology, computer science)<\/li>
  • Modern and classical languages<\/li>
  • Arts and physical education<\/li><\/ul>

    At the end of 3\u00e8me, students take the Dipl\u00f4me National du Brevet (DNB)<\/strong>, which certifies their skills and knowledge before moving on to lyc\u00e9e.<\/p>

    Lyc\u00e9e (Ages 15 to 18)<\/h4>

    Lyc\u00e9e prepares students for the Baccalaur\u00e9at Fran\u00e7ais International (BFI)<\/strong>, which grants access to higher education institutions around the world. It consists of three levels: Seconde (10th grade), Premi\u00e8re (11th grade), and Terminale (12th grade)<\/strong>.<\/p>

    • Seconde<\/strong> is an orientation year that allows students to explore various subjects before choosing a specialization.<\/li>
    • Premi\u00e8re and Terminale<\/strong> combine a common core curriculum with specialty courses chosen by the student according to their interests and future goals.<\/li><\/ul>
